Jennie

Founder, pre-school guide, textile artist and Yoga instructor.

It brings me great joy to create playful and purposeful art for people and the places they call home. This same spirit shows itself in all that I do. Art is a very mindful process and when being completely immersed in a creative project there is a great peace to be found. The more immersed I become in the creative process the more profound its effect on my well being. This is something that I have also discovered in practicing yoga and then meditation.

All of these things combined with my love for the natural world and how we interact with it has brought me to discover the healing available to everyone when we become aware of our ability to support each other by properly taking care of ourselves body, mind and spirit.

“Even as a little girl, I knew I wanted to spend my life making art. Whether I’m painting, sewing a baby quilt or teaching pre-schoolers, I let my playful spirit shine.”

I have always had a keen interest in the details of our world and how we engage in it as humans. Working with children always came natural to me and after finding yoga it became a part of my preschool classroom. Immersed in the unfolding of a series of life events, yoga became my spirit guide and naturally adopted meditation to support my well being in turn supporting my ability to be a better caregiver to my family and my students. I began to feel called to share all that I had learned with others in support of their own well being. This sparked the start of a journey into deepening my own yoga practice. First completing the Kidding Around Yoga teacher training for ages 12 and under.

This allowed me to share what I had learned in my classroom. It also inspired me to complete a 200 hour yoga teacher training. The opportunity to take a Mindfulness Based Meditation Teacher training seemed a natural progression. All of this leads to completing a level 2 Meditation Teacher Training and embarking on a new adventure as a founding member of the Balance Living Center Sangha. This new endeavor will allow me the opportunity to offer and collaborate with other mindfulness practitioners in sharing all that we have learned and experienced with others.
